After some shocking pictures emerged online in 2010 showing the Real Madrid star, Michael Essien’s father – James Essien – is a deplorable situation, many had questioned the humanity of the footballer. Essien however came to say his own father had abandoned him a long time ago. His dad of course denied that allegation. Who was lying and who was speaking the truth is something we never got to find out.
However, Essien returned to taking care of his dad. Well, bet we will never find out anyway because the old man is no more. His father died from a protracted illness. The sportsman flew down to Ghana on Sunday (September 1, 2013) to bid a final farewell to his papa. May his soul rest in peace.
